Alejandro Pinzon
Alejandro Pinzón was born in the town of Charala, Departament of Santander (COLOMBIA) in 1971. Son of Mr. Luis Alejandro Pinzón Pinzón veteran of the Korean War and Mrs. Nelly Martínez Poveda who worked as a teacher and notary. Alejandro felt strong attraction for books from his early years. “My father was a fanatic reader”; he had a large collection of books and I read all the time, “I discovered the painting in those books”, this was my first great approach, however we make the question: Why did you decide to do art? The artist answers: “ the art simply came with me as my equipment, I had a children encyclopedia full with good quality illustrations, images of paintings of very important artists as Da Vinci, Rousseau, Picasso…it was the Picasso’s boom time” These anecdotes are simple events without importance for the unprepared spectator, but for the creative processes, they really direct the taste and motivations to great projects and aspirations. His greatest influences for bringing up the grand decision of devoting to the art, arise with Mister Supelano, his music teacher at Jose Antonio Galan School of Charala, he taught Alejandro the first notions and foundations of painting; another great influence was the primitivist painter Manolo Diaz, who was also born in Charala and had a impact on Alejandro with his colourness and motifs. Alejandro brings to mind that he made his first paintings using gouache colors over cardboard; he didn´t know how to use oil painting. .He comment that he took part at he age of eight in an art contest in the town of Piedecuesta, He won the contest with the illustration of two scenes: The first one represents the order and quietness of the pupils in front of the school mistress; The second one represents the chaotic atmosphere and disorder generated by the pupils in absence of the school master; the teacher exclaims: “I deserve this for being sincere”. This union of events marked henileis childhood and adolescence as a motivation for taking the far reaching decision of of devoting to painting at the age of fifteen. His profession begins with the participation in some regional art contests. He won the first juvenile prize in the 5th. Charalá art contest .He worked with his master ManoloDiaz in the painting of a mural painting for the House of Culture of his home town, this opportunity gave him the possibility of studying in a deeper and existential the creative process of his master,. After this fortunate circumstance, the painter Alejandro traveled to Bogota, the capital city of Colombia for establishing there. He was eighteen years old. During the last two decades, he has taken part in important art exhibits in his country, since 2005 he begins to participate abroad, in latinamerican countries as Venezuela and Brazil; in United States of America, in the cities of Atlanta, Miami and New York; in the old continent: in Spain, Belgium, France, Monaco, also in Japan and Australia.
